Livingston to celebrate 80th birthday

052914-livingston-80thThe family of Dean Livingston is inviting his friends to share in the “surprise” celebration of his 80th birthday. A reception will be held to honor him 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at The ELM Building, 228 Main St., Carbondale, Kan.

Livingston, a long time Carbondale resident, is known by many in the area through his former business, Dean’s Drive In, and as a coach and referee, and for dances he hosted for teens in the area. Dean, a 1952 graduate of Carbondale High School, is also renowned for being a team member of the 1951 state championship basketball team. He was involved in a number of businesses throughout the years, and now resides in Arizona and Carbondale.

Livingston has five children, Connie, Denise, Belinda, Rick and Tim, and 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. His sister Ruth Hug lives in Carbondale; his twin sister Jean and sister Eva Mae are deceased. He is the son of Lemuel and Ruth (McPhail) Livingston.
