Frank E. Prost, 80, Carbondale: Feb. 23, 1934 – June 13, 2014

061414-obit-frank-e-prostCARBONDALE – Frank E. Prost, 80, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at Brookside Retirement Community, in Overbrook, Kan. He was born on February 23, 1934, in Osage City, Kan., the son of Frank and Alvera Woolery Prost.

Frank grew up in Osage City, had lived in Topeka, then near Carbondale for the last 41 years.

He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. He had worked for Southwestern Bell, retiring after more than 34 years. He was a member of the Evangelical Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post, both in Osage City. He had been a scout leader for many years.

On June 10, 1956, Frank was married to Barbara Colstrom, in Osage City.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail Prost, his parents, and two brothers, Wayne Prost and Ronald Prost.

Frank is survived by his wife Barbara of 58 years; his two daughters, Kathy Priest (Richard) and Wendy Ufford (Richard), all of Carbondale; brother, Kenneth Prost, of Lawrence; five grandchildren, Brice Greene, Derek Priest, Shannon Warthen, Sara Ufford and Corey Ufford, and nine great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Frank will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Grace Lutheran Church, in Osage City. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, in Lyndon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church or the Brookside Retirement Community Memorial, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
