Car show adds cruisin’ to Osage City’s cookin’ event

In conjunction with the 10th Smoke in the Spring Barbecue Contest, April 13 at Osage City, will be the ninth Cruisin’ and Cookin’ Car Show. With lack of room in Jones Park due to ongoing construction of USD 420’s sports facilities, the car show will be held in downtown Osage City this year. Market Street is to be closed to traffic from Fourth to Sixth streets, where cars will be on display.

If past attendance is an indication, auto enthusiasts could expect to see as many as 200 vehicles on display during the car show. All makes and models of cars are welcomed to the show, including cars, trucks, vans, muscle cars, antiques, street rods, rat rods and motorcycles.

Registration for the show will be 8-11 a.m., with awards presentation at 2:30 p.m. Registration fee prior to April 1 is $12; day of show registration is $17; each additional entry is $5.

As an added event, Hot Wheels cars will race beginning at 1 p.m.

Donuts, breakfast burritos and drinks will be offered by the Osage City Middle School cheerleaders, and a barbecue lunch will be available at 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Osage County Senior Center, served by the Osage City High School band.

The show is hosted by Twin Lakes Cruisers. For more information, contact Richard Swarts at 785-528-3667, Dustin Hokanson at 785-220-2777, or Rich Allen at 785-217-5767, or on the day of the show call 785-249-5451, or email [email protected]
