Nelden Dale Cain, 55, Osage City: Aug. 17, 1958 – June 27, 2014

OSAGE CITY – Nelden Dale Cain, 55, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, in Topeka, Kan. He was born on Aug. 17, 1958 in Holton, Kan., the son of John Sr. and Stella Holler Cain.

Nelden had lived in Topeka, Lyndon and Vassar before moving to Osage City two years ago.

He graduated from Seaman High School, had worked for Brad Ragan Tire, in Topeka, and had been a floor covering installer for Marv’s and Feltner Floors & Furniture, in Lyndon, for many years. He was a member of the Lyndon Baptist Church and then the Flint Hills Baptist Church, in Osage City.

Nelden was married to Rita Wheatley, in Lyndon, they later divorced.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Cain in 1993; two brothers, Loren Cain in 1996 and Mark Cain in 1992; and sisters, Suzanne Cain in 1946, Darlene King in 1999, Vicki Anspaugh in 2004 and Eathel Brown in 1998.

He is survived by two stepdaughters, Dena Espinosa, of Arizona, and Wendy Vandenboogerd, of Amarillo, Texas; four brothers, John Cain Jr., San Antonio, James Cain, of Kansas, Gary Cain, Topeka, and Duane Cain, Rossville; and three sisters, Laura Scripter, of Michigan, Cheryl Shillcutt, Fayetteville, N.C., and Susan Anspaugh, Rossville.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, in Lyndon. Inurnment will be in the Valley Falls Cemetery.
