Olivia L. Favors, 98, McPherson: April 30, 1916 – June 21, 2014

MCPHERSON, Kan. – Olivia L. Favors, 98, of McPherson, Kan., passed away peacefully Saturday, June 21, 2014, at McPherson Care Center.

Olivia was born in Tampa, Kan., on April 30, 1916, the daughter of George Washington and Anna Katherine (Kraus) Pope.

She attended the Enterprise Country School and graduated from Roxbury High School, Roxbury, Kan. She later attended nursing school.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, McPherson.

Olivia worked as a licensed practical nurse in Kansas City, Mo., and for a Newton, Kan., rest home. Later Olivia ran a gas station in Bochita, Okla.

She was a member of the Oriental Chapter 58 Order of Eastern Star of McPherson, Kan.

Olivia L. Pope was united in marriage to Jessie Kurtz on April 21, 1945, at Ottawa, Kan. Jessie died Dec. 17, 1964. Olivia was united in marriage to Algie Favors on Sept. 23, 1968, at Newton. He died March 3, 1979.

Olivia is survived by several nieces and nephews, including great-niece Janet Williams, of Scranton, other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Jessie Kurtz and Algie Favors; three brothers, Samuel, Allen, and Earl Pope; and two sisters, Victoria Williams and Clayoma Emley.

The final resting place will be at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Alma, Mo.
