American Legion Post No.125, Lyndon, began its 2015 membership drive with a big ‘vrooom’, manning a booth at the Lyndon United Methodist Church Get “Rev’d” Up Car Show June 21.

Members provided information on Legion programs the post has been involved in this year. The Post plans to grow its family with a new charter of Sons of the Legion, American Legion Riders and Junior Auxiliary. Members are being sought for those groups.

In May, the Lyndon legionnaires swore in new officers, and awarded a 50-year membership pin to Virgil Silver for constant membership since 1964. He is a Korean War veteran of the Army from 1950-1952.

Danny Roush, outgoing commander, swore in Commander Jayson Massey, Vice Commander Lou Wohlitz, Adjutant Erin Massey, and Finance Officer Geri Thomas. Roush was appointed as sergeant-at-arms and Debbie Romine serves as chaplain and veteran service officer.

The post plans on continuing the momentum built this year.  Members will be in Lyndon Fourth of July parade, plan to send a student to Boys State and Girls State, be involved in the Relay for Life Osage County, and have fundraisers in the works.
