Senator Dole to stop in Osage City on tasting tour of Kansas baked goods

Retired U.S. Sen. Bob Dole has added Osage City as a location to visit during the sixth of several trips to Kansas this year.

Dole will visit Osage City at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the Osage County Senior Center. All visits are open to the public. Dole will speak and then take questions from the audience, followed by a time for meeting with him.

“I’m looking forward to continuing my tour of Kansas,” said Dole, who served as U.S. Senator from Kansas from 1969 to 1996. “I hope to see friends and former supporters of mine, and I’ll plan to enjoy lots of brownies, oatmeal raisin cookies and pies along the way.”

Refreshments will be served by the Osage County Republican Women’s Group. The Osage County Senior Center is at 604 Market St., Osage City, KS.

Dole begins the two-day tour on July 14. Other locations he will visit include:

Monday, July 14:

  • Oskaloosa – Jefferson County Courthouse, Commissioners Room, 300 Jefferson St. – 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Alma – St. John Lutheran Church, 218 West 2nd St. – 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Council Grove – Council Grove Senior Center, 227 West Main St. – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Marion – Marion Community Center, 203 North 3rd St. – 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 15:

  • Cottonwood Falls – Chase County Courthouse, 300 Pearl St. – 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
  • Eureka – Greenwood Hotel, 301 North Main St. – 1 to 2 p.m.
  • Yates Center – Woodson County Ambulance Building, 114 North Main St. – 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
  • Burlington – Coffey County Library, 410 Juniatta St. – 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Osage City – Osage County Senior Center, 604 Market St. – 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.
