Alice Wilkins, 86, Osage City: Oct. 7, 1927 – July 28, 2014

OSAGE CITY – Alice Wilkins, 86, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City. She was born on Oct. 7, 1927, in Osage City, the daughter of Olin and Thersa Rice Oveson.

Alice had lived all of her life in the Osage City community.

She was a homemaker and had worked for Hallmark Cards as a napkin packager.  She was a Girl Scout leader and an avid bowler.

On April 14, 1945, Alice was married to Clayton Wilkins, in Ottawa.

She was preceded in death by Clayton on Feb. 2, 2012; by a daughter, Carol Jinx, on March 19, 1996; two brothers, Gail and Freddy Oveson; and a sister, Bertha Drake.

She is survived by her four children, Dennis Wilkins, Osage City, Richard Wilkins (Pam), of Lawrence, Randy Wilkins (Kim), Vassar, and Teresa Fields (Terry), Topeka; a brother, Teddy Oveson, of California; a sister, Georgina Shafer, Osage City; and 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial will be in the Osage City Cemetery.
