Topeka traffic alert: Ramp closures at I-470 and SW Gage Boulevard Interchange

Drivers are warned to expect major delays due to round the clock ramp closures, beginning Wednesday, Aug. 6, near the Interstate 470 and Gage Boulevard interchange in south Topeka.

Eastbound I-470 to Gage Boulevard exit ramp and Gage Boulevard to westbound I-470 entrance ramp will be closed, 24/7, for ramp approach pavement replacement work for a city of Topeka project beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, and will reopen to unrestricted traffic on Tuesday, Aug. 19, weather permitting.

Advance message boards will alert drivers to the ramp closures. No marked detour will be provided. All ramps at adjacent interchanges, 29th Street, Fairlawn Road and Burlingame Road, will remain open, and drivers can utilize these interchanges as alternate routes during the scheduled ramp closures.

Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage and cones. Drivers should expect major delays and must use alternate routes during the ramp closures.
