Levi Hampton, 18, Lebo, has enlisted in the U.S. Navy and left for basic training on July 29, 2014. His family and friends gave him a send off with a family picnic July 26, at Lebo.

He is to complete eight weeks of basic training at the Navy’s only boot camp, Recruit Training Command, at Great Lakes, Ill, before being shipped out to Coronado, Calif, where he will go through the BUDS/Navy Seal training program.

Hampton signed up for the Navy at 17 years old. He has undergone physical training while working with a field mentor over the past year, leading to him being accepted into the Navy Seals training program.

Hampton is a 2014 graduate of Lebo High School, and the son of Misti and Bill Hampton, Lebo. His grandparents are Gladys and Boyd Woodyard, of Osage City, and Bill and Sharon Hampton, Lebo.
