Hay driver! You lost something

Osage City became a hay loading center Monday evening, as one of four tractor-trailers traveling through town lost a large round bale of hay.

Police were called to the scene in the 600 block of Market Street about 8:50 p.m. Aug. 18, for a report of a hay bale falling off of a trailer.

It was discovered that as one of the four trucks rounded the curve at Ninth and Market streets the load shifted, causing one of the round bales to fall off. The tractor trailers parked in downtown Osage City while the Osage City street department responded with a front-end loader. Street department personnel assisted with reloading the lost hay bale and straightening the load on the trailer. The 600 block of Market Street was temporarily shut down during the process.

Police reported no citations were issued to the driver who lost the bale.
