Autopsy determines Carbondale man had been struck by vehicle

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has reported that a Carbondale man found dead on U.S. Highway 56 Sunday morning had been struck by a vehicle. The cause of death of Timothy J. Kemble, 19, was determined by an autopsy yesterday.

Osage County deputies found Kemble in the roadway about two miles west of Overbrook early Sunday morning, after a caller reported a body lying in the road.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office reported that a call came in at 5:03 a.m. Aug. 24 about a white male walking on U.S. Highway 56 approximately 2 miles west of Overbrook; a few minutes later, another caller reported a body in the road.

Kemble was found on the highway at mile post 410 or 1/2 mile west of Paulen Road.

Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn said the investigation into Kemble’s death is continuing with assistance of the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The sheriff is seeking information about the incident, and requesting anyone with any information, such as anyone who was traveling in the area around 5 a.m. Sunday, or anyone who had spoken with Kemble prior to 5 a.m. Sunday, to call the sheriff’s office at 785-828-3121 or 1-877-OSCRIME.
