Lucky winners to get something on a stick at the Kansas State Fair

Four lucky Osage County News viewers will have fun at the Kansas State Fair this year, as winners of Osage County News’ “Get on a Stick” ticket package giveaway. In the giveaway, four winners were randomly selected today from among eligible entrants who met yesterday’s entry deadline.

Notified today by phone, Gwen Crane, of Osage City, was the winner of the four-ticket package to see Chris Young and and Courtney Cole in concert at the Kansas State Fair.

Crane said she was excited to win the tickets, saying she had grown up in Rice County and was a fan of the state fair, held at nearby Hutchinson.

“I love the state fair,” she said. “I’ve seen lots of concerts there and I’m sure I’ll enjoy this one.”

In keeping with the theme of this year’s fair, “Get on a Stick”, in her entry Crane said the food item she planned to enjoy at the fair is a corn dog.

Also in the ticket giveaway, four tickets to the popular Kansas State Fair Demolition Derby were won by Mike Davis, of Quenemo. Davis said he was looking forward to going to the fair. “I haven’t been to the fair for years, since my kids were in 4-H,” he said Saturday. He said he was happy to win tickets to the demolition derby.

Two winners received ticket packages for the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pull at the Kansas State Fair. One winner showed the reach of the contest, as Bill Terbovich, of Newton, said he saw Osage County News’ giveaway on Facebook. Terbovich won with his entry saying he was looking forward to eating some cotton candy. Notified today, Terbovich said he and his wife were excited about the fair, and living close by they were regular fair visitors. They would enjoy the truck and tractor pull, he said. The other winner of truck and tractor pull tickets was Tim Mears, of Topeka. Mears said he was happy to win and this will be his first visit to the Kansas State Fair.

Each winner won four tickets to a show along with four gate tickets to the fair.

Osage County News operator Wayne White said the ticket giveaway was a fun way to generate local excitement about the Kansas State Fair.

“It’s always fun to talk to happy people when you’re telling them they’ve won something,” he said. “Having grown up as a regular state fair visitor, I know it’s a fun way to spend a day with your family and eat something on a stick.”

The prizes were provided in conjunction with a Kansas State Fair “Get on a Stick” ticket promotion.
