Mind your Ps and Qs: Senior spelling bee planned for October

It looks like a once a month Saturday day trip may become part of Osage County’s public transit program’s repertoire. The Saturday bus trip to Ottawa on Sept. 6 is full, as is the trip to Olpe’s Chicken House on Thursday, Sept. 18.

We are offering a trip to a variety of Topeka antique stores on Sept. 25, with the bus leaving at 8:45 a.m. If you would like to ride and have a particular store you would like to visit, make sure to let us know as soon as possible. The requested donation for this trip is $3 per rider, and the lunch stop will be at Banjo’s Café, in Pauline.

We are starting to plan for our fifth annual Senior Spelling Bee, tentatively scheduled for the evening of Oct. 9. We will work with the Lyndon Elementary-Middle School to provide our panel of judges. Contestants must be from Osage County and be 55 years old or older. More details will be available later.

And, for those who regularly attend the Biscuits and Gravy Extravaganza here at the center on the second Thursday of each month, Osage Nursing Center has requested it start at 8:30 a.m. rather than 9 a.m. The next extravaganza will be Sept. 11, with Wayne’s technology assistance available shortly afterward. (Editor’s note: Wayne White, of Osage County News, offers to help folks of all ages who might have questions about or problems with cell phones, computers and other technological gadgets.) We hope you will join us.
