090514-mary-lou-woodsWICHITA – Mary Lou Woods, 76, of Wichita, died Sept. 3, 2014. She was born April 3, 1938, at Ft. Worth, Texas.

Mary Lou was the retired director of Faith House Shelter, a safe house for battered women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lillian Snavely; husband, Harlow Woods; and a son, Robert Woods.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Paul and Tina Woods, Wichita, and Anne and Sam Biles, Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Sarah Garcia, Brian Woods, Andy Woods, Katie Marchese, Erin Woods, Cameron Sanchez; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, 655 S. Lorraine, Wichita.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church, 655 S. Lorraine, Wichita, KS 67211; and the Wichita Public Library Foundation, 223 S. Main St., Wichita, KS 67202.

Downing & Lahey Mortuary East, Wichita, is in charge of arrangements.

    She was a great lady who will be missed by many. Lorraine Avenue Mennonite Church presented a heartwarming service.
