Paul L. Trueblood, 71, Barclay: Feb. 7, 1943 – Sept. 13, 2014

091514-obit-truebloodBARCLAY – Paul L. Trueblood, 71, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at his home in Barclay.

He was born Feb. 7, 1943, in Emporia, Kan., the son of Claude and Ellen Marconett Trueblood. Paul attended Osage City High School where he was very active in the FFA program. He went on to graduate with the class of 1961. Paul served in the Army Reserve for six years following high school.

Paul spent his entire life in Barclay, working as a rancher and running a cattle fitting service.

He showed Polled Hereford cattle and later bred Salers cattle. He received the herdsman of the year award from both the American Polled Hereford Association and the American Salers Association.  He retired in 2009. His memberships also included the American Quarter Horse Association.

Paul married Dorothy Cramer in 1963. They were later divorced. He married Virginia Mercer in 1971 and they later divorced. He married Janice Washburn and she preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 1998. He married Patti Egan on Aug. 2, 2012, after being together since 1999.

He will be forever missed by his wife, Patti, of their home; a son, Matthew Grizzell, Aurora, Ill.; a brother, Bill Trueblood, Barclay; two nephews, Scott and Brent Trueblood; a niece, Crystal Sixbury; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 19, at the Osage City First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services at Barclay Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, Kan. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
