Mary Lou Brown, 83, Baldwin City: Feb. 16, 1931 – Oct. 19, 2014

102214-Mary-BrownBALDWIN CITY – Mary Lou (Stuke) Brown, 83, of Baldwin City, Kan., passed away on Oct. 19, 2014, at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kan. Mary Lou was born in Sabetha, Kan., on Feb. 16, 1931, to Bernard Stuke and Mary (Haverkampf) Stuke.

Mary Lou graduated from Wetmore High School in 1948. A lifelong homemaker, Mary Lou was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, of Baldwin City, as well as the Altar Society of the church, and the Kansas Association for Family and Consumer Education.

She was united in marriage to J.C. Brown on Nov. 29, 1950, in Wetmore. They shared 63 years of marriage. He survives of the home.

Mary Lou is also survived by a daughter, Laura Torneden and husband, Greg, of Overbrook; six sons, Danny Brown of Topeka, Joseph Brown, Sisley, Texas, David Brown and wife, Twilla, Baldwin City, Mark Brown and wife, Sherri, Baldwin City, Rob Brown and wife, Michelle, Overbrook, and Anthony Brown and wife, Susie, Eudora; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Wessel, Topeka, and Elise Beam of Mayetta,; and two brothers, Ray Stuke and Ken Stuke,both of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Alvin Stuke.

A Funeral Mass was said at 10 a.m. Oct. 22, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City. Burial followed the service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Baldwin City.

The family suggests memorials be made to Annunciation Church Youth Education in care of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 64, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
