Edith “Lorena” Croucher, 93, Peterton: Feb. 18, 1921 – Oct. 24, 2014

PETERTON, Kan. – Edith “Lorena” Croucher, 93, of the Peterton area north of Osage City, passed away at her home, Friday, Oct. 24, 2014.

Edith was born Feb. 18, 1921, northeast of Burlingame, Kan., the daughter of Gillio and Edith Vandevord Succi. As a young girl she attended school at Pleasant Valley School No. 37.

She was joined in marriage to Dannie M. Croucher on Aug. 7, 1940, in Lyndon. To this union were born two daughters, Charlotte (Carl) Manning, of Lyndon, and Elvoria (Franklin) Heck, Osage City; and a son, Hayden (Linda) Croucher, Osage City. Other survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Tyree, Dayton, Ohio, and a brother, Glen Succi, Burlingame; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lorena was preceded in death by her husband Dannie on Oct. 27, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Alfred Succi.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 198, and had been a member of the Women’s Relief Corp and a local Extension homemakers unit.

She greatly enjoyed visiting with family and friends, tending her garden, making quilts and of course her dog, Sugar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City. Burial will follow services at Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.
