Mary Joan Fry, 92, Osage City: Aug. 25, 1922 – Nov. 2, 2014

110614-fryOSAGE CITY – Mary Joan Fry, 92, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at Vintage Park at Osage City. She was born August 25, 1922, in Yates Center, Kan., the daughter of Thomas A. and Anna E. (Eisenbart) Fry.

She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1941 and attended the University of Oklahoma. She moved to Bartlesville, Okla., to work for Phillips Petroleum Company. She worked for the company for 43 years in sales from June 18, 1942, to Aug. 1, 1985. She moved to Osage City in 2013 to be closer to her sister, Virginia. 

Joan had been a member of St. John Catholic Church, in Bartlesville. Also, she was a member of Desk & Derrick Club, in which she was elected president, and Jane Phillips Sorority, in which she was elected national vice-president. After moving to Osage City, she became a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by a sister, Virginia Ryan, Osage City; six nieces, Mary V. Fry, Pittsburg, Kan., Tamara Bond and husband, Steve, Osage City, Peggy Fleming and husband, Robert, Weir, Kan., Anne Elrod and husband, Chuck, Chicopee, Kan., Theresa VanBecelaere and husband, Vince, Pittsburgh, and Georgeanna Lynn Fry, Leawood, Kan.; five nephews, Mike Ryan and wife, Joy, of Wyoming, Clyde Ryan and wife, Mary Kay, of Wyoming, Tom Fry and wife, Michelle, of Michigan, Jim Fry and wife, Tracy, of Bucyrus, Kan., and Bob Fry and wife Daphne, Overland Park, Kan.; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Fry, Frontenac, Kan., and many more great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Thomas L. Fry; a great niece, Melissa Fry, and a brother-in-law, Bob Ryan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Osage City. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Yates Center Cemetery, Yates Center.
