Even with suggested fare donations, bus rides provide economical transportation

The Osage County General Public Transportation service is funded through various government sources, including the federal transportation agency, our state department of transportation, Osage County, and from recommended donations from the riders of our buses.

A new set of donation recommendations will go into effect in 2015. A $3 donation will be requested from riders on regularly scheduled bus trips within Osage County. This would include such activity trips as the ceramics run and bingo run, to the senior center. The suggested donation for the Topeka and Emporia shopping trips would be $5 per rider. Requested donations for other trips going outside of Osage County and beyond the surrounding counties will also adjust upward, but will be determined trip by trip. When the mileage and the convenience are considered, this is still a very good value for the money.

If any Osage County citizen would like to comment on this subject, we encourage your communications be directed toward the senior center director, or to the county Council on Aging, or the county commissioners by mail, or in person by appointment.
