Roger W. Hotchkiss, 86, Melvern: March 26, 1928 – Dec. 2, 2014

MELVERN – Roger W. Hotchkiss, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at his home in Melvern. He was born on March 26, 1928, in Melvern, the son of Crayton and Mabel Heilmann Hotchkiss.

He had lived most of his life in the Melvern community.

Roger graduated from Melvern Rural High School in 1945. He worked as a maintenance technician for DuPont, in Topeka, until his retirement. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

On April 9, 1971, Roger was married to Olive Bridges, in Melvern.

Roger is survived by his wife, Olive, of the home; three sons, Steve Hotchkiss, Olivet, Ritchie Hotchkiss and Dennis Hotchkiss, both of Lakeland, Fla.; three daughters, Ruth Farwell, Kansas City, Mackie Jamison, Waverly, and Tina Hotchkiss, Hays; sister, Mary Ree Miller, Melvern; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at the Melvern United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday, at the church in Melvern.
