Santa makes annual pre-Christmas trip to Lyndon during winter festival

With Christmas less than three weeks away, Santa Claus made his annual reconnaissance mission to Lyndon Saturday, when he met with all of the town’s good kids and listened to their wish lists. Santa first made an appearance in Lyndon’s Winter Festival parade, chauffeured to the high school in the back of a pickup decorated with holiday cheer – Lyndon State Bank’s parade entry that won as the best business group float.

Other parade winning entries included the Lyndon High School and Middle School Band, best musical act; Vassar Blue Ribbon 4-H Club, first place float; Cub Scout Pack 107, second place float; Future Business Leaders of America and Lyndon Community Business Women, best walking float (promoting an ongoing Christmas toy drive); Buzzard’s Pizza, best business entry; Salt Creek Ranch, best equestrian entry and best faith-based entry; Osage County Fire District No. 5, mayor’s choice.

The day was highlighted by a craft show at the high school gymnasium, the Winter Festival 5K run/walk, which had more than 40 entrants with proceeds donated in memoriam of Brody Johnston; visits and photos with Santa; and a burrito breakfast and a taco feed lunch to warm everyone up during the chilly, cloudy, wintry day.
