Burlingame’s 25th Country Christmas has town ringing with Christmas cheer

People and cars line Santa Fe Avenue in downtown Burlingame Saturday in anticipation of the annual Country Christmas lighted parade.

The silver bells were ringing in the 25th anniversary of Burlingame’s Country Christmas Saturday as the community gathered on Santa Fe Avenue for the town’s traditional lighted parade and lighting of the tree. Burlingame’s 2014 Country Christmas Couple Bill and Mitzi Patterson shared the celebrity spotlight with Santa Claus as honored guests in the parade.

Osage County Fire District No. 6’s brightly-lit fire trucks led the parade, which featured a variety of festive and twinkling floats. Winning floats in the parade were: Dance Spot, first place; Burlingame 4-H Club, second place; and the Burlingame Bearcat Band, which performed from aboard a large float/pontoon boat that also chauffeured Santa Claus along Santa Fe Avenue.

Burlingame also had the town ringing with holiday cheer with good kids visiting Santa Claus and taking photos, a craft and vendor fair, festival of trees, holiday home tour, silent auction, downtown dance performances, the 5K Christmas Jingle.
