Fathers, daughters dance the afternoon away

Daughters in fancy dresses dance with each other while their fathers take a break at Sunday’s Daddy Daughter Dance, held at Lyndon High School.

Local fathers shared a fun afternoon dancing with their daughters Sunday, at the Daddy Daughter Dance hosted by Lyndon Pride and the Lyndon Community and Business Women.

040713dance3With the Lyndon High School junior class allowing use of decorations from their prom the night before, about 95 fathers and daughters enjoyed dancing in the school gymnasium that provided a magical setting for the two-hour afternoon event.

Snacks, games and photos were part of the entertainment during the dance, which was deejayed by James Newman, of Digital Entertainment. Bill Patterson, of Patterson Photography, was photographer for the father-daughter couples and groups. Hannah Wilson and Lindsay Conklin, junior class sponsors, helped with decorations for the event.

The dance served as a fundraiser for CBW and Pride, with proceeds going toward scholarships for USD 421 students and community events.

Organizers are making plans for the event to be held annually.
