KHP requests information regarding Dec. 23 fatal crash on K-10

On Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, the Kansas Highway Patrol investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash on state Highway 10 in Douglas County. KHP is seeking any witnesses to the crash, and asking anyone with any information to contact them to further the investigation of the crash.

The crash occurred at approximately 4 p.m. Dec. 23, on K-10 Highway between East 1200 Road and U.S. Highway 59, on the south side of Lawrence.

According to a KHP report, Alexander G. Tsiovkh, 63, Lawrence, was the driver of a gold 2005 Mazda Tribute, which was westbound on K-10 when it crossed left of center and crashed into a white 2005 Volvo truck and semi-trailer in the eastbound lane. Tsiovkh was killed in the collision, while the driver of the truck, Mohamed Igal, 34, Kansas City, Mo., was transported to KU Medical Center with injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Anyone with any information, or who may have witnessed the crash, is asked to contact Trooper Jacob Moomau, the lead investigator of the crash. Moomau can be reached at 785-296-3102.

A KHP press release said the patrol is dedicated to fully investigating any traffic crashes that occur on Kansas highways, and thanked the public for any assistance offered in instances such as this.
