Mildred B. Lester, 70, Scranton: July 20, 1944 – Dec. 27, 2014

122914-lesterTOPEKA – Mildred B. Lester, 70, Scranton, passed away Dec. 27, 2014, at Aldersgate Village, in Topeka. Mildred was born July 20, 1944, in Lecompton, the daughter of George Chiles and Iva Gleen Chiles.

She married Lonnie Lester on June 1, 1963, in Lyndon. He preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1998, after 35 years of marriage.

She worked at Frito Lay in Topeka for more than 28 years. She was a member of the Scranton United Methodist Church. She was active with the Scranton Athletic Club and was an avid KU fan.

She is survived by two sons, Lonnie C. (Carla) Lester, Scranton, and Douglas Lester, Scranton; a daughter, Staci Jones (Marten), Scranton; brother in law, Paul Lester, Scranton; two sisters, Wanda Manis, Topeka, and Frances Tindell, Carbondale; four grandchildren, Amber Rendell, Michael Lester, Courtney Jones and Michaella Seastrom; and six great grandchildren, Aaron, Karli, Harlie, Jacob, Nathan and Molly.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 2, 2015, at the Scranton United Methodist Church. She will lie in state 1-5 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at Rochester Cemetery.
