New year brings helpful seminars and tax filing assistance to senior center

It is time to put out your new calendars, and by picking up a January senior center newsletter you will already be in the know for at least the first month of the year. You might want to note the nutrition site is having its first fundraiser of the year on Jan. 29, with a ham and bean soup feed that evening. Also, the local Area Agency on Aging is putting on quarterly seminars regarding issues that concern the elderly. The first seminar is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 22, here at the Osage County Senior Center, 604 Market St., Osage City.

We have already had several inquiries about Tax-Aid by AARP. We will publish a date for this free tax preparation service as soon as we receive the details from the local AARP representative. You are welcome to call the center once in a while to check on a date since there are limited reservations each year; call 785-528-4906.

Don’t forget Osage Nursing Center’s monthly Biscuits and Gravy Extravaganza, 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8 (provided by ONC on the second Thursday of every month, all ages, freewill donation accepted).
