Help House: Budgeting courses ensure eligibility for heating assistance

There have been 10 people complete the Help House-sponsored Good Sense Budget course to date, with seven receiving one-time assistance. The dates for the next budget class for this season will be Monday, Feb. 9, one class beginning in the morning, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and an evening class for those unable to attend during the day, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The second half of the class will be held on Monday, Feb. 23, with the same morning and evening time schedules. The classes are a prerequisite for anyone who believes they may need to apply for one-time assistance this winter to help with heating bills.

Call Pam Bilyeu, at Help House, prior to Feb. 9 to register and for additional information. Anyone who has completed the class this year will remain eligible again next season.

People served

The number of those served by Help House during January: 191 Households, 200 children, 311 adults, 47 elderly and 110 disabled.

Household items needed

Help House is in need of household items, including any kitchen items, dishes, small appliances, linens or bedding, small lamps and wall décor.
