Teresa ‘Beth’ (Clark) Sisson, 65, Overbrook: Aug. 25, 1949 – Feb. 13, 2015

OVERBROOK – Teresa “Beth” (Clark) Sisson, 65, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015. She was born Aug. 25, 1949, to F. Robert “Bob” Clark, a World War II veteran and farmer who managed the Overbrook Co-op fertilizer plant, and Celeste Marjory (Thurber) Clark, a homemaker.

Beth was raised on her parents’ farm south of Overbrook along with brother, Randy, and sister, Susie. She graduated from Overbrook Rural High School in 1967.

She married Robert “Bob” Sisson on Feb. 20, 1971, at the United Methodist Church in Overbrook. Together they had two children, a son, Jared, and a daughter, Brandi. Beth worked for Payless ShoeSource, the Kansas Bar Association and the USDA before retiring.

She lived in Overbrook for most of her life. Beth served as a member of the board for the Overbrook Public Library and was instrumental in starting a children’s soccer program when her children were in school, as well as bringing a baseball team to Santa Fe Trail High School. 

She enjoyed painting and loved to sing. She was part of a trio that included friends Marcia (Simmons) Atchison and Janie (Supple) Wyand. Beth also loved to play cards with her card club.

Beth is survived by her mother, Celeste, Overbrook; her husband, Bob, of the home; son Jared, his wife, Rachel, and grandchildren, Easton, Jordan and Jayde, all of Wakarusa; daughter Brandi and grandchildren Brady and Brooke Kuermaier, all of Overbrook; brother Randy R. Clark and his wife, Nancy, Salina; sister Melody Susie Parcell and her husband, Kent, Yuma, Ariz. On the Sisson side, she is survived by brother-in-law Ben Sisson and wife, Diana, Carbondale; sister-in-law Brenda Gentry and husband, Tim, Scranton; sister-in-law Beverly and husband, Bob Ireland, Overbrook; brother-in-law Bruce, Overbrook; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Clark, her in-laws, Robert “Guy” and Berniece Mae Sisson, and her nephew, Nathan Parcell.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to the service hour, Wednesday, Feb. 18, at Grace Community Church, Overbrook. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Overbrook Cemetery.
