Virginia M. Ryan, 91, Osage City: Aug. 28, 1923 – Feb. 27, 2015

OSAGE CITY – Virginia M. Ryan, 91, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at Vintage Park at Osage City.

Virginia Mae Fry was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Yates Center, Kan., the daughter of Thomas A. and Anna E. (Eisenbart) Fry.

She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1941. It was in school that she met her sweetheart and love of her life, Robert “Bob” Ryan.

Bob and Virginia were married Dec. 24, 1944, in Yates Center. To this union three children were born, Michael, Clyde and Tamara.

Virginia was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Osage City. She was an active member of the Altar Society, in which she served as an officer many times. She was instrumental in helping to start the ECAT program in Osage City, and served on the board as well as working in the store for many years.

Virginia will be remembered by a daughter, Tamara (Steve) Bond, of Osage City; two sons, Mike (Joy) Ryan, Riverton, Wyo., and Clyde (Mary Kay) Ryan of Rock Springs, Wyo.; eight wonderful grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately called her “Gramma Sweetheart”, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, a sister, Mary Joan Fry, and a brother, Thomas Fry.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Osage City. Rosary will be recited and family will receive friends 7:15-8:15 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church. Burial will be in Yates Center Cemetery.
