Public transit schedules in-county roundup

Once again, AARP has provided free tax preparation services to more than 50 local citizens at the Osage County Senior Center. I think some folks just take this service for granted. But I, for one, really appreciate the many volunteers who are involved in this annual event.

Wayne White, of Osage County News, has been offering telephone and computer technology assistance for quite a while on the second Thursday of each month following the Biscuits and Gravy Extravaganza. He is ready to expand this program to specific technical subjects that may be of interest to folks of all ages. So at 9 a.m. March 12 at the center, Wayne is presenting the basics of interacting and communicating on Facebook. The presentation is free and all computer skill levels are welcome.

To promote our public transit service in Osage County, we are going to try a new bus trip within the county on March 25. By offering free rides on this particular trip we hope to generate enough interest to make it a monthly venture. The idea is to pick up riders in any Osage county town and bring them to the senior center in downtown Osage City. From there riders can spend time at the center, enjoy a leisurely walk around town, or stay on the bus and make stops at local businesses and eateries. We will publish more details in the senior center news the next couple of weeks.

For more information about the senior center or its activities, stop by 604 Market St., Osage City, or call 785-528-4906.
