Commodities program offered for eligible applicants 60 and older

We recently have had some of our senior commodity slots vacated and could take some new applicants. This Harvesters Community Food Network program works to improve health by providing supplemental USDA commodity foods to low income persons of at least 60 years of age. For details on this program, please call 785-528-4906, or stop by the Osage County Senior Center, 604 Market St., Osage City.

Besides all the activity and shopping trips and medical runs we have scheduled in April, our buses will be hitting the road for the following special trips. On April 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., one of our buses will be shuttling folks between the car show in downtown Osage and the aircraft displays at the airport. On the 22nd we are making an evening jaunt to Emporia’s Bruff’s Bar and Grill for supper. April 23 we are making bus service available to anyone who needs transportation to the 10th Annual Senior Health Fair here at the center. And on April 29 we are offering free bus service from anywhere in Osage County to the senior center to promote the bus service as well as the senior center, its activities and the daily lunch service. Call for more information.
