Smoke in the Spring: It’s finally here

SITS_logo_artTo help plan your weekend at Smoke in the Spring, here’s a quick look at the schedule of events that begin Friday with the Taste of Osage City at 5 p.m., followed by the Kids-Q competition, and live music. Smoke in the Spring events are planned at Jones Park, Osage City Community Building, Osage City Parks and Recreation building, downtown Osage City, and the Osage City Airport.

Friday, April 10, 2015

8 a.m. – 5 p.m. – BBQ team check in, Recreation Building

12 p.m.-7 p.m. – BBQ Bucks sales, Community Building

5 p.m. until the food runs out – Taste of Osage City, Cookers’ Row, north side Jones Park

5:30 p.m. – Kids-Q cooks meeting, Community Building

6:15 p.m. – BBQ team cooks’ meeting, Community Building

8 p.m. – Kids-Q turn-in, Community Building

8 p.m.-midnight – Live music with Backyard Legend, Recreation Building, Jones Park, free admission, bounce houses for kids

Saturday, April 11, 2015

8 a.m.-until the planes fly out – Wings in the Spring, Osage City Airport, weather permitting; free shuttle from Osage County Senior Center, 604 Market St., to the airport every hour 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

8 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Cruis’n & Cook’n Car Show, downtown Osage City.

10 a.m. BBQ judge check-in, Community Building
10:30 a.m. BBQ judge meeting, Community Building

11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Relay for Life fundraiser lunch at Osage County Senior Center

11:30 a.m. Cook’s Choice category turn-in
12 p.m. Chicken turn-in
12:30 p.m. Ribs turn-in
1p.m. Pork turn-in
1:30 p.m. Brisket turn-in
2 p.m. Dessert turn-in

2:30 p.m. – Cruis’n & Cook’n Car Show awards presentation, downtown Osage City

4 p.m. – Smoke in the Spring Awards Ceremony, Recreation Building, Jones Park

    By the time the sun starts to go down, it might be getting chilly. Probably should bring a jacket for the outdoor smorgasbord.

      "Outdoor smorgasboard" is the perfect description. What a "ymmy" selection of food ready to be eaten with a lot of fun-lovin' people.
