Santa Fe Trail High School graduates urged to follow their passions, use talents for betterment

With the largest senior class in Osage County, Santa Fe Trail High School graduated 94 students Saturday, sending them off to “where there is no path” and to “leave a trail” as Ralph Waldo Emerson was quoted on the ceremony’s program.

The community was welcomed to the send off for the SFTHS Class of 2015 by student council president Adam Fischer, who introduced the 2015 salutatorian Andrea Hinck.

Hinck encouraged her classmates to follow their passions to guide them in the future.

“Your passions are one of the things that make you unique,” Hinck said. “Passions give you motivation to achieve your highest dreams.

“If we follow our passions, we will turn into the people we want to be,” she said.

Valedictorian Colin McIver told the graduates they should use their talents better themselves, quoting from one of stories of his favorite superhero, Spiderman.

“With great power comes great responsibility,” McIver said, quoting Spiderman’s uncle in a movie.

“If you have the ability to do something, then do it with intentions to better yourself and others around you,” McIver explained. “Every one of us in cap and gown today has special talents meant to be used to benefit the world we live in. Now you may not have super-human strength or the ability to shoot webs from your wrists, but the gifts we all possess make us capable of great things.”

With introduction of the class by SFTHS administrative assistant Keith Johnson, SFTHS Principal Patrick Graham announced the following seniors had completed the requirements to graduate: Alexis Jo Alejos, Justin Matthew Baker, Matthew Don Baker, Andrew Barnett Ball, Megan Irene Barnes, Paul Barras, Dalton Levi Bauman, Brenton Edward Berckefeldt, Spencer Ryan Bessette, Tambour Sebastian Bieker, Dakota Wayne Boyd, Samantha Jay Cansler Bradley, Georgie Marie Branson, Alyssa Marie Brecheisen, Kylie Mariah Brown, Kayla Ann Bryant, Brenna Marie Burlew, Anna Maria Capra, Darric Charles Allen Cashier, Zane Joseph Cersovsky, Dallan James Cowley, Danielle Sarine Crook, Ariel Marie Crouch, Shawn Campbell David, Devin Ann DeShazer, Charles Zackory Detwiler, Charity Lena Faith Elley, Elora May Else, Carli Nicole Erickson, Jessica Estrada, Conner Lee Fannin, Dorian Marie Feliciano, Haley Jo Ferris, Taylor Nicole Fiegener, Adam Eugene Fischer, Galen C.
