Cooling assistance from Help House requires completion of budget class

Help House will have assistance available to help with increased summer cooling cost. Applicants must complete the simple Good Sense Budget Course which will be offered 9 a.m.-noon June 22 and June 29, with an evening class 6-9 p.m. To be eligible to apply you must attend both days to complete the course. Call 785-828-4888 to pre-register for the class.

Help House director Pam Bilyeu has been very busy the last few months. She has attended a Drug Free Osage County training with other representatives of the Osage County faith community, attended a workshop in Wichita on human trafficking, and has attended the Harvester’s Food Pantry forum with other agencies.

On May 1, Help House partnered with the Salvation Army to assist with emergency needs in Osage County.

The Summer Fan Club begins June 1.  With the weather being as cool as it has been during the month of May it may seem like summer is going to be kind to us, however in Kansas when June is on the calendar the thermometer will begin to climb. Any individual or business that would like to donate new fans to distribute to those who do not have air conditioning, please drop them off at the center anytime during regular business hours. Please do not leave in the shed. Cash donations to purchase fans would be greatly appreciated as well.

Items needed at the Help House at this time are: Spaghetti, cans of fruit, vegetables and soups. Personal items needed include bars of bath soap, shampoo and conditioner, deodorants, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

You may call Pam with any questions you might have; the Help House phone number is 785-828-4888, email [email protected], visit www.osagecountyhh.com or like us on Facebook.

Notice: Any items received at Help House are for the client’s use only and are not meant to be sold or bartered at flea markets, thrift shops, auctions or garage sales. As always, thank you to all of the churches and individuals who support this ministry. God bless you.
