Choose your fair – two Osage County fairs in one week

It’s fair to say that it’s fair season in Osage County. Fairgoers will be able to have a double dose of county fairs next week, with two fairs happening at the same time – one at Melvern and and the other at Osage City.

Melvern’s Sunflower Days County 4-H Fair kicks off this Saturday with exhibits, and continues next week on June 25, 26 and 27 with its legendary (since 1910) Sunflower Days activities, including nightly bingo, a carnival, baby show, talent show, kids races, homemade ice cream and the fair parade. See schedule here.

Also next week, the Osage County Fair, at Osage City, will begin June 24 with exhibit entries and continue with judging and fair activities through June 27. A highlight of this year’s 70th anniversary Osage County Fair will be the dedication of a new livestock exhibition building at 6 p.m June 24 at the fairgrounds. See schedule here.

The Overbrook Osage County Fair will be Aug. 12-16, 2015.

An electronic version of the 2015 fair book, which has schedules for all of this year’s Osage County fairs, is available here.
