Charity invites young artists to design annual thank you card

A post card design contest is being held by The United Way of the Flint Hills, and Osage County children are invited to participate. Artists are asked to showcase their artistic talent by creating a colorful thank you postcard that will be sent to all United Way donors this year. The postcard could be a beautiful picture of the community, favorite summer activities, or a re-creation of the United Way logo, though any design is eligible for the contest.

Up to five winners will be chosen and their postcards will be professionally printed and sent to thousands of donors in eight counties.

Designs should be submitted on 4 by 6 or 5 by 7 white cardstock (which the United Way can provide, if needed). Paint, crayons, markers, and pencils can be used – no highlighters. The child’s name, age and address should be written on the back of the card in pencil, with designs to be submitted by July 31. If the entry is submitted through a United Way community partner, the organization’s name will be included under the child’s first name and age.

Help House is a community partner in Osage County, and entries can be dropped off there before July 24 to allow for mailing. Help House is at 131 W. 15th St., Lyndon.

For more information, to request card stock, or submit an entry, contact Jami Reever, executive director, United Way of the Flint Hills, 702 Commercial St., Emporia, KS 66801 or call 620-342-7564.
