Grace M. Jordan, 92, Lyndon: Oct. 5, 1922 – Aug. 23, 2015

LYNDON – Grace M. Jordan, 92, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Vintage Park, in Osage City, Kan. She was born on Oct. 5, 1922, near Leoti, Kan., the daughter of George and Eva Woodbury Wiley.

Grace had lived in Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois before moving back to the Lyndon area in 1983. She had been in Osage City for the last few years.

She graduated from Olivet High School in 1939. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an airplane mechanic. She had worked as a bookkeeper and as a food service manager at a truck stop in Joliet, Ill., Rock Creek Country Club in Burlington, and the Big Boy Restaurant in Ottawa. She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church, the Lyndon American Legion Post 125 and she had volunteered at the VA hospital, in Topeka. 

On Nov. 19, 1949, Grace was married to Charles “Chuck” Jordan in Bentonville, Ark.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck, on March 8, 1998; a grandson, Rodney Edwards, and a great-grandson, Kaleb Hobbs.

She is survived by her two children, Deb (Daryl) Edwards and Byron (Mary) Jordan, all of Lyndon; two brothers, Russ Wiley, Madera, Calif., and Cloyce Wiley, Dayton, Ohio; and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, in Lyndon. Burial with military honors will be in the Vassar Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
