School shooting survivor to share story at Michigan Valley Community Church

missyjenkinssmith_webThe Michigan Valley Community Church will be hosting a special guest at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 and is inviting the community to join them in welcoming Missy Jenkins Smith, author of “I Choose to Be Happy: A School Shooting Survivor’s Triumph Over Tragedy”.

Smith, who was paralyzed in the 1997 school shooting in Paducah, Kentucky, will be sharing her story of strength, courage, forgiveness and most importantly the effects of bullying in schools!

Diane Sawyer, of ABC News, had this to say about Smith: “Missy breaks your heart, puts it back together again, and makes you a believer in forgiveness, faith, and how the strength of one girl can change the world.”

Everyone is invited to the event at 10 a.m. Sept. 13, at Michigan Valley Community Church, 6485 E. 221st St., Vassar, near  Pomona Lake Dam.
