Sheriff’s office upgrades radio system

Local law enforcement radio traffic no longer available on scanners

Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn has announced the sheriff’s office and local police departments will be converting to an upgraded radio system beginning next week.

“With this update, law enforcement radio traffic will no longer be available on scanners,” Dunn said. “The general public will only be able to hear fire and ambulance radio traffic.”

She said the current sheriff’s office radio system is more than 15 years old. The upgrade is expected to be completed Sept. 8.
