Donald E. Lane, 81, Eagan, Minn.: Jan. 27, 1934 – Aug. 16, 2015

OSAGE CITY – Donald E. Lane, Eagan, Minn., went home to the Lord, Aug. 16, 2015. He was 81. He was born Jan. 27, 1934, at Osage City, the son of Clarence and Bessie Thomas Lane.

He graduated from Osage City High School in 1952 and attended the University of Kansas before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He served with the 739th AC&W squadron. While serving, he met his wife.

He married Marie Klucan, Nov. 14, 1954, at Wadena, Minn. She survives.

After serving four years in the Air Force, he became an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration for 29 years, retiring in 1986. He later worked for DISC Corporation several years, working in Utah, California and Hawaii.

He was a charter member of Peace Reformed Church, where he was very active in the church family. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. Fishing trips took him from Canada to the Gulf, Nova Scotia to Alaska and many Minnesota lakes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Albert, Lawrence and James Lane; and a sister, Fannie Brock.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Don Lane and wife, Kathy, and David Lane and wife, Cindy; six grandchildren, Tammy Ruth and husband, David, Chris Paige and wife, Marie, Ashley Lane, Emily Browning, Erin Lane and Connor Lane; five great-grandchildren, Alyson and Tyler Paige, Ian Ruth, Lyla Lane and Deklyn Lane; and a sister, Judy Lawrence, St. Louis, Mo.

Services were at Peace Reformed Church, Eagan, Minn. Interment followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minn.
