Enjoy yoga on Fridays at the senior center

While our abilities, even our faculties, may diminish with age, our need to enjoy the best of what it means to be human still remains. That’s why I strongly believe the importance of activities and fellowship is so crucial to a healthy lifestyle. Join us at 11 a.m. Fridays for arthritis friendly yoga at the Osage County Senior Center.

Oct. 21 will be Count Your Button Day! Yes, you read this correctly. Count Your Buttons Day is a very real event. This is an example of a quirky celebration that as of yet has defied a true explanation. In addition, there is no real history of this event or for how long it has been celebrated but we have had a few guesses. While this may be disappointing for some, this mystery could even serve to make Count Your Buttons Day even more exciting.

Obviously, honoring this day will take place in the form of (you guessed it) counting your buttons. If you have some free time, stop in and guess how many buttons are in Nancy’s button jar.

Join us for lunch that day. The nutrition site will have a noon meal for the suggested donation of $3 for seniors and $6 for everyone else – a nutritious meal of meat loaf, baked potato, peas, roll, and blueberry crisp. You must call the day before to order by 1 p.m., so please reserve your meal in advance by calling the center at 785-528-4906.

Start planning now! Get your costume ready for the Oct. 30 Halloween party. Dress up from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and stay and play some haunted bingo with a few special prizes

The nutrition site’s noon meal that day will be Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, Country Vegetable Bread, and Lemon Medley. Call the day before to reserve your meal.

For more information, call the senior center at 785-528-4906 or stop by at 604 Market St., Osage City.
