Melvern teen identified as driver in fatality rollover accident

Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn has released more details about a single-vehicle rollover accident that happened Saturday evening south of Melvern Lake, and in which Cory J. Sprecker, 26, Lyndon, was ejected and killed.

According to the sheriff, Sprecker was a front seat passenger in his 2008 Ford pickup, which was driven by Samuel Chase Jones, 15, Melvern. Ethan Totty, 15, Lebo, and Jackson Fitch, 12, Lyndon, were back seat passengers in the vehicle.

Sprecker was ejected from the vehicle and fatally injured. Jones, Totty and Fitch had minor injuries, received medical attention at the scene, and were not transported. The sheriff reported the investigation has shown that Jones, Totty and Fitch were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, but Sprecker was not.

The sheriff’s office responded to a report of the accident in the 32900 block of south Morrill Road about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.
