Melvern plans spooky fun for all who dare enter the haunted trails

102913-melvern-trail-witchCelebrate Halloween early by planning to spend a spooktacular evening at Melvern. On Saturday, Oct. 24, Melvern is inviting all to come for a costume parade, soup supper, hayrack ride, and then have the soup scared out of you on the infamous haunted trails in Melvern’s backwoods.

The blood curdling celebration begins with a Halloween costume parade, which lines up at the Melvern Community Center at 4:30 p.m. for kids in preschool through fifth grade, followed by a hayride for all kids who dressed up. All kids third grade and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the hayrack ride.

The soup or ham and bean supper serves from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Melvern Community Center; freewill offerings will be accepted to help maintain the community center.

The first hayrack leaves the Melvern Community Center at 6:45 p.m., taking the back roads to the haunted trails that begin at 7 p.m. and run until 9:30 p.m.

The free hayrack will take riders to the haunted trails and back to the community center. Riders are not required to disembark at the haunted trails, especially those with weak hearts or other nervous afflictions.

Cost of the haunted trails is $4 per person and there will be light refreshments at the end of the trail.

Don’t be frightened yet, but Melvern is patiently awaiting to give you the shivers on Oct. 24.
