OCPR Update: Improve athletic skills, learn to dance, join a team

Osage City Parks and Recreation has a great fall schedule of activities lined up. Hone your softball pitching skills, learn a dance technique and routines, or be part of a youth basketball team. OCPR is also seeking individuals interested in being on the Osage City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

OCPR Softball Pitching Clinic

Instructor, OCHS Softball Head Coach Tammy Serna.
14 years coaching high school level softball.

  • 3rd-8th grade softball players.
  • Clinic Dates, Oct. 14, 21, 28 – Nov. 4, 11, 18 – Dec. 2, 9, 16.
  • Clinic Times, 6-6:30 p.m., 6:30-7 p.m., 7-7:30 p.m., 7:30-8 p.m.
  • Pitching Sessions are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
  • Pitchers MUST supply their own catcher for the session.
  • $5 per player, per pitching session.
  • Clinic payment due the day of the clinic.

Youth Basketball (Pre-K and kindergarten, coed)

  • Practice dates and times Sundays, Jan. 10-Feb. 21 – 5-6 p.m.
  • Location Osage City Junior High and High School Gyms.
  • Players receive a team shirt and participation award.
  • Cost is $20 per player.

Youth Basketball (1st and 2nd grade, coed)

  • Team practice Monday – Nov. 30, Dec. 7, 14 and Jan. 4 – 6-7 p.m.
  • Game information
  • One game per week
  • Monday, Jan. 11-Feb. 15
  • The first 30-minutes will be the team practice.
  • The second 30-minutes will be the team’s game.
  • Each game will be 2, 15-minute halves with mandatory substitutions every 5 minutes.
  • Players receive a team shirt and participation award.
  • Cost is $20 per player.

Signup deadline Nov. 6. OCPR coach-player discount available and OCPR scholarship forms available.

Youth Basketball (3rd-6th grade boys and girls)

  • OCPR teams participate in the Scott Brown Youth Basketball League.
  • League divisions are split into single grades 3rd-6th grade for boys and girls.
  • Team practice can begin the week of Nov. 30, if a team has a coach.
  • SBBL Season, Saturdays, Jan. 9 – Feb. 20
  • -SBBL League Divisional Tournaments, Feb. 27
  • Players receive a team uniform and a participation award
  • Cost is $30 per player

OCPR Park Board Applicants

OCPR is seeking individuals interested in being on the Osage City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Applicants need to fill out an Osage City Citizen Board Application. Those applications are available in the Utility Office at Osage City Hall or can be sent out by request. Application deadline Nov. 16

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the 3rd Thursday of each month (with some exceptions). Applicants must reside within the USD 420 School District. For questions or more information contact Corey Linton, [email protected] or 785-528-4610.
