Monty Dean Seems, 56, Melvern: July 14, 1959 – Oct. 10, 2015

102515-seemsMELVERN – Monty Dean Seems, 56, of Melvern, Kan., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at the Midland Hospice Care, in Topeka, Kan. He was born July 14, 1959, in Smith Center, Kan., to Darrell Dean and Norma Jean (Gaudren) Seems.

He grew up and graduated from Melvern High School in 1977.

On February 3, 1979, Monty married Tina Marie Hotchkiss, in Melvern, and to this union they shared two children, Markus Dean and Aften Marie Seems. They later divorced.

He married Sandy Louise Wellbrock on June 11, 1994, in Hays, Kan., and to this union they shared a son, Makell Steven Seems. They later divorced.

Monty was a loving and caring man with a big heart who always had a big smile on his face and could make anybody laugh. He was a jack of all trades and worked in a few states at various hospitals as the chief systems engineer, and retired at the Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital, Wakeeney, Kan., in 2014. He enjoyed playing all sports, especially pool. He was also an avid Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan. Most of all, Monty loved and enjoyed spending time with his children who will miss him beyond words.

Survivors include his father, Darrell Seems, of Melvern; two sons, Markus (Jaime) Seems, Bailey, Colo., and Makell Seems, Melvern; a daughter, Aften Seems, Hays, Kan.; two brothers, Mike Seems, La Quinta, Calif., and Martin Seems, Melvern; a sister, Michelle Seems, Lobelville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter Taryn Graham, Norton, Kan.; and a grandson, Breken Seems, Bailey, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma J. Seems.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Melvern United Methodist Church in Melvern. A private family inurnment will be held at the Melvern Cemetery at a later date. The children of Monty will be conducting the memorial service.
