County offers road dust control for rural homes

Osage County is again offering a program to reduce the amount of road dust in front of rural homes.

In June, liquid magnesium chloride will be applied to a strip of rock road in front of eligible houses. It can reduce dust for up to 90 days.

The application of magnesium chloride will be a minimum of 300 feet and maximum of 700 feet in length for any owner or tenants requesting the dust control treatment. The cost of the dust control is $1.60 per foot of treated road.

All applicants will be charged the same rate regardless of whether located on a county road or township road. Applications are required to include payment for the calculated cost and be submitted prior to 4 p.m. May 24.

Treatment applications will be scheduled to comply with best use of Osage County Road and Bridge Department personnel and equipment.
