Tour to showcase progress of Arvonia’s restoration

The Arvonia Historical Preservation Society will host a “Progress Tour” at the Arvonia school and church 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14.

The tour of the former town site of the Welsh-founded community is free, and refreshments will be served. As part of fundraising for the restoration of the school and church buildings at the town site, items will be for sale at the event, including tickets for a drawing for “Tea in Arvonia” for six people.

AHPS continues to raise funds for the upkeep, preservation and restoration of the buildings through private donations and grants.

AHPS is also reminding visitors that at the neighboring community of Lebo, the United Methodist Church is hosting a bazaar that Saturday, offering a soup and sandwich lunch from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

For more information about Arvonia, AHPS or the restoration of the buildings, see related story here, or contact Susan Evans Atchison at [email protected].
