Richard Lee Estes, 57, Osage City: May 19, 1958 – Nov. 17, 2015

OSAGE CITY – Richard Lee Estes, 57, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at his home near Osage City, Kan., after an extended illness. He was born on May 19, 1958, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Billy and Mary Lou Hendrickson Estes.

Rich had lived in Topeka and Tennessee until returning to Osage City where he has lived for most of his life.

Rich graduated from Union City High School in Tennessee in 1976. He worked at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Ottawa as a forklift operator for 19 years where he received numerous awards. He also farmed and raised cattle. Rich had grown up in 4-H and was a member of the Lions Club and Eagles in Osage City.

On Nov. 19, 1995, Rich was married to Nancy Jo Emperley, in Osage City.

Rich was preceded in death by his dad, Billy, on Nov. 15, 2014.

Rich is survived by his wife Nancy, of Osage City; children, Courtney (Moises) Martinez and CJ Estes, Osage City, Cody (Christina) Rich, Topeka, and Brandy (Eric) Ortiz, Corpus Christi, Texas; mother, Mary Lou, Osage City; brother Ron (Susan) Estes, Wichita; sister, Glenda Estes, Emporia; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 5-6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
