Despite freezing rain and icy roads, Santa Claus was able to make it to Osage City last Saturday for Christmas on Market. Santa was originally scheduled to fly in to the Osage City Airport, but had to find other transportation due to the weather. While here, Osage County Fire District No. 2 escorted him around town in an antique fire truck.

Although Santa’s visit wasn’t interrupted by the weather, two Christmas on Market events were postponed and rescheduled to Dec. 5.

The lighted Christmas on Market parade will be Saturday evening, with float staging at 5:45 p.m., judging at 6 p.m. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. Entries are still being accepted. For registration, contact Dena Brown-Gardner at 785-806-5223. All individuals and groups are welcome to participate.

Also rescheduled was the Jingle Bell 5K run and walk, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, at the corner of Sixth and Market streets. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Warmth Fund, ECAT, EKAN and the Osage City Chamber of Commerce. For more information, see
